Hawaiian Airlines pilot talks stall

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaiian Airlines pilots and their company are running out of time to reach a deal.
National Mediation Board Director Lawrence Gibbons wrote in a letter Monday that the board won't act on a request by the pilots to declare a negotiation impasse until after the two sides complete mediation talks scheduled for the week of Dec. 7.
The Air Line Pilots Association and the company have been in labor talks for three years.
The pilots had asked the board last month for a release from mediation, a move that could lead to a strike by the airline's 400 pilots.
Hawaiian's pilots voted in September to authorize a strike if contract talks didn't result in a new collective bargaining agreement.
