HONOLULU (AP) — Gov. Linda Lingle has released $75 million to pay for a thousand or so capital improvement projects at public schools throughout Hawaii.
The governor's office said yesterday that the money was appropriated by the Legislature earlier this year for building and campus facility improvements, repairs and maintenance.
The long list of projects range from reroofing, electrical improvements and restroom renovations to structural repairs, waterline replacements and fire alarm upgrades.
In August, Lingle released $22.2 million to the Department of Education for similar lump sum capital improvement projects at public school campuses a cross the islands.
