Puna man charged with unlawful imprisonment

A Puna man has been charged with unlawful imprisonment for a confrontation with a 16-year-old girl. A School Resource Officer received a report Tuesday (October 13) from Pāhoa High School officials about an attempted kidnapping of a high school girl while she was walking to a bus stop in the Tiki Gardens subdivision in Pāhoa.
Through his investigation, the officer was able to determine the identity of the suspect and arrested 22-year-old Dickenson Nakashima of Pāhoa at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The case was turned over to the Juvenile Aid Section for further investigation.
On Thursday (October 15) Nakashima was charged with unlawful imprisonment in the second degree. His bail was set a $1,000.
