Anderson wins Honolulu council special election

HONOLULU (AP) — J. Ikaika Anderson has won a special election to succeed the late Barbara Marshall on the Honolulu City Council.
Election officials say Anderson garnered 12,582 votes, or 49 percent the votes cast, in the winner-take-all election. It was Hawaii's first all-mail election.
Anderson was Marshall's long-time aide. He had the endorsement of her husband, Cliff Ziems.
Former City Councilman Steven Homes placed second with 3,612 votes.
Tracy Nakano Bean was third with 2,617 votes, followed by Keoki Leong (2,173), former City Councilman John Henry Felix (1,825), Pohai Ryan (869), Wilson Kekoa Ho (832), Paul Akau (337), Tom Pico Jr. (324), Sol Naluai (175) and Leona Mapuana Kalima (147).
