HONOLULU (AP) _ A cat that wandered away from its owner who left for the mainland six weeks ago has been found skinny and hungry in a storage container.
Craig Watson of Portable On Demand Storage says he heard a cat meowing in one of its containers at the company's Lagoon Drive facility.
Tracing the history of the container, it was left by a military couple. The husband received short notice of deployment and they quickly packed up their goods for storage.
But officials say the cat actually belonged to someone who had just moved to the mainland, and sneaked into their sealed container.
The container went into storage on Nov. 8 and wasn't opened again until last week.
Dr. Matt Belcher of the Cat Clinic says the cat is okay and if it is not claimed, it'll be put up for adoption.
