HONOLULU (AP) _ The U.S. National Institutes of Health is awarding a $10 million grant to the Institute for Biogenesis Research at the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine.
The money is to be used to transform the institute into a nationally competitive reproductive biology research center.
The NIH says the award is one of five Institutional Development Awards totaling $55 million to foster health-related research and increased competitiveness.
The money is to be used to strengthen research through additional staffing and new equipment, along with supporting faculty and students.
It also is intended to promote collaboration among researchers with complementary backgrounds.
