(Honolulu-AP) -- Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry easily won the presidential poll at Hawaii's Democratic caucuses last night. Long-shot Dennis Kucinich, who campaigned on the islands earlier this week, was a surprising second place.
Kerry also scored solid victories in the Idaho caucuses and Utah primaries.
The Hawaii contest was the last before a climactic 10-state round next week.
Kerry and Kucinich were the only two on the ballot to pick up Hawaii delegates to the national convention. Kerry got 12. Kucinich, who made campaign stops on Oahu and Maui, grabbed eight delegates.
Howard Dean, who dropped out of the race but was expected to make a strong showing, came in fourth but will carry no delegates.
In a statement, Kerry said the win in Hawaii was nostalgic because it's the last place in America he stopped before heading to Vietnam.
