HONOLULU (AP) _ A Kaneohe Marine has pleaded no contest to charges that he stole the identities of five fellow Marines and paid for meals and other items with credit cards he took out in their names.
Prosecutors say Marine Corporal Daniel Alfieri's victims were serving in Iraq when their identities were stolen.
Police say Alfieri stole more than one-thousand dollars in cash and goods.
Deputy city prosecutor Chris Van Marter says the 28-year-old Marine committed the ``ultimate act of betrayal.''
Alfieri faces up to ten years behind bars. He is expected to be sentenced July 18th.
Alfieri says he is suffering from post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorders. He has asked Circuit Judge Randal Lee to give him the opportunity to stay out of prison and keep a clean criminal record.
