HILO, Hawaii (AP) _ Police say two people were killed and one person was seriously injured Tuesday when a Honolulu man lost control of his vehicle around a curve on Mauna Kea Access Road on the Big Island.
Police say 34-year-old Philip Patrick Lung drove off the road, then the 2006 red Jeep dropped 20 feet down an embankment and rolled over.
Police say they believe speed was a factor.
Lung died and his wife, 31-year-old Ryoko Lung has been transferred to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.
A 33-year-old woman from Japan also died.
Police are withholding her name pending positive identification and notification of her next of kin.
Police say she wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
