Hilo High school is increasing its safety and security practices in response to the recently elevated level of national security.
Principal Kathy Webster is asking for the public’s understanding and cooperation as some minor disruptions are expected in the first few days of instituting the new safety procedures.
Effective immediately, vehicles coming on campus will use only the main entrance and will be greeted by security before being allowed on campus. The lower campus road will be closed to the public during school hours. All bags, backpacks and enclosed articles left unattended will be considered found property and searched for identification. Also a heightened awareness procedure will be in place for unusual or suspicious activity in and around the school campus.
Visitors to the school must report to the mainoffice for a pass and parking permit.
The Hilo High Track will remain open after school hours, but users are advised to not park on campus.
